Sometimes I can see the horizon

Sometimes I can see the horizon

Comissioned installation by FAB Grönlandet

At Riksförsäkringsanstalten, designed by architect Sigurd Lewerentz, Ingrid Unsöld establishes a dialogue between Lewerentz’s work and her own. By merging concrete cores, once taken from the building, with ceramic elements, Unsöld is exploring the morphology of the column in a series of new pillars. Traces of Lewerentz’s work are interwoven with characteristics that have become central to Unsöld’s artistic identity.

Unsöld consistently explores the fundamentals of human life, seamlessly transitioning between the proportions of everyday objects vs architecture using stoneware as her medium.

In this project, Unsöld further extends her practice into the field of architecture, activating her signature glazes and structures as ornamental elements.
